Working via his psuedonym, James Ray, 24, creates highly abstracted works, based fundamentally on a stream-of-consciousness approach. His primary medium is fountain pen on paper, whereas he expresses confounding rhythm that he says “makes sense in that moment in time.”

Ray’s works are generally limited in color, with many being monochromatic, utilizing the start contrast between the pigment and the paper in order to create organic forms.
