Child is a 7-foot tall structure, suspended 9 feet from the floor in a dilapidated farm house attic in rural Pennsylvania, where it hangs in isolation, longing for a new home.
It consists of tediously hand-stuffed cotton medical gauze.
“I’ve always been obsessed with the concept of surface area. These structures fold, coil, and branch within all organic bodies. From leaves to snails to people, we are have in common this fundamental structuring. I find it fascinating, and I wanted to begin a line of works that begs the question: Why?”
