There’s No Place Like Home, digital photography
Olivia Miller
Olivia Miller is a Pennsylvania-based artist that teaches art to young minds. In her own works, she experiments with a variety of mediums, namely film, painting, and sculpture. She’s exhibited at local shows and galleries, and given her wealth of knowledge in the field, her patience, and calming presence, she is a valuable asset to the art community.
Miller’s delicate style sits juxtaposed to the rich contrast found within her works. At first glance, her photography may appear as a simple scene - though, it instinctively and intricately unfolds into something much more poignant. The evanescence is jarring - fleeting images of strewn bags and boxes suggest that a vacancy has replaced the initial bustle of occupants. In both Nan’s Kitchen and There’s No Place Like Home, one can almost taste the nostalgia of a life once lived.
Miller is a very kind soul, and her works reflect that. She has a fascination with a myriad of different things that inspire her work, including bugs, interiors, jewelry, and music. She is a creator at heart and is a young artist worth watching.
Artist Comments:
“I make art to express things I cannot say. My body of work has to usually do with understanding the world around me. I consider myself a mixed media artist, yet I am trained in photography and sculpture. I graduated from Kutztown University with a B.S. in art education. These series I’ve been putting together have an underlying connection either through color, texture, humor, or nostalgia.”
