Ryan Cherry, as his last name suggests, creates sweet renditions of what we tend to pass by and take for granted. He sees the depth and understands the criticality of expressing how important it is to lionize things that otherwise feel evanescent.
Cherry, a nomad disguised as a photographer, creates illuminated and tactfully vivid images of things that would otherwise go unrecognized. His sense of perspective and appreciation for form is not lost - but rather amplified through his works. Throughout his travels, he constantly searches for beauty in the mundane - and once found, he stops, sets up his tripod, and begins to start anew.
Artist Comments:
“I make art to give recognition to the beautiful everyday aspects in life that go unnoticed. My photographs represent the mundanity of life, though I express it through a visceral lens that establishes meaning beyond what most view as simple frames of reference. I want them to see what I see.”
